Being the first one to make the effort is a big thing. This clearly shows your sign of commitment in saving your relationship. Your spouse will notice that you are willing to change. This will most likely encourage him or her to do the same.


Tip #2: Stop being angry.
This situation, where you are the only one making all the efforts in saving your marriage, can stir all kinds of emotions. You may feel frustrated that you have not done anything before the situation got to this stage. You may also feel angry with your partner for not doing anything to fix the situation. The only way to move forward is to stop the anger. Being angry will cloud your judgment. It is important to stay calm and cool with your partner, no matter hard that sounds like. Starting this moment, think positively, and take positive actions, this will result to a positive effect upon your partner.

Tip #3: Compromise.
You don’t have to be afraid to give in to your partner if you want your marriage to survive, or at least compromise. This is hard if you are the one losing. But if you think about it, a lot of things you argue are just petty, so why not be the bigger person to give in or compromise first? Your little sacrifice might as well save your marriage.


Tip #4: Have the initiative to change.
Three common causes of broken marriages are loss of communication, intimacy and finally, love. Although your spouse is stubborn and insensitive, you should have the initiative to remind your partner how positive and engaging the both of you are when you were in love. Reminiscing happy moments together can be a great therapy for the both of you. It will not only take your spouse’s attention off from the current problem of your marriage, but it will bring him or her back to those happy memories and he or she can possibly see a happy future with you.

Tip #5: Support System.
It is going to be real hard being the only one making all the efforts initially. Ask for the support of your friends and family, it is one of the best things you can do. You will never feel saving your marriage all by yourself.
